State Fair 3.0

Two huge changes have happened in recent fair years.
1. We had kids.
2. Jill worked the fair.

This definitely changes things up a little.

The boys change it up in what time we arrive, where we go, the pace we set and what time we leave. We definitely want the boys to be a part of our 12+ year tradition, we also know that they can only take so much. And we can only take so much too. So in a brainstorming session about the fair, one of our best friends Chad came up with the idea of going early in the morning when the kids are already up. The crowds and heat are MUCH less which is makes everybody happier. Then he suggested, hey why don't we just get our hand stamped, get a sitter and come back later just the big people. Let me tell you, this made Chad a GENIUS in my mind! We have done this 3 years now and it is the best of all worlds. Tradition fun with boys. Celebrate the anniversary just us and friends.

This was the first year working at the fair. It has always been a dream (I dream big, don't I?). I had some connections that had worked at the Swedish Clogs on the 1st floor of the Grandstand. I got connected to Duane the manager and the rest is history. I worked a total of 10 shifts. I got to help set up which was unique as I got to drive right on up to the Grandstand. It was fun to feel the pre-fair energy buzzing around those two days. I was scheduled the very first shift and the very last shift. This perspective was a treat, the beginning and the end. I ended up loving it. Clogs are not bad to sell. So much so that I won every shift bonus I worked! All of the other workers told me that working for Duane is the main reason they come back. I would concur. He was a great state fair manager. Honest. Fair. Fun. Overall, it was a great experience, one I hope to repeat in the years to come.
