Heath and I try hard to remember how our love for the Minnesota State Fair started??? Neither of us brought the tradition into our relationship as neither of us grew up going regularly. We went in August of 1998 while dating and haven't stopped since. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing. Where to go? What foods to try? How to get there? Which is why I think it is one of the reasons it has become so special to go each year. Because it is all ours. We have made that day once a year ours. Our favorite foods. Our favorite stops. Our favorite traditions.
Once we got married on August 25, 2001 we made it a priority to stop at the MN State Fair before we took off for our honeymoon to San Fransisco. I kid you not, we danced to the
song San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair) at the KOOL 108 booth. Each year we decided this is how we would spend our anniversary. We would always invite family and friends to join in the celebration.
We definitely have certain must eats and must dos, but it has been so fun to add new things over the years simply because of who is with us. To name a few special ones:
-Seeing Brian at OUR Corn Dog stand
-Making it our goal to get on KARE 11 news weather
-Making out on the Ye Ole Mill (Thanks Tommy!)
-Mullet counting game: 1 point for a man, 2 for a woman, double for the family
Here are a few old and new shots to share!!!
