as normal as normal gets...

Wow, are we ever fortunate? Why? Because we have amazing friends that knew just what we needed, time away, to check out and just spend some solid time together as a new family and them as friends. YAY KARI AND PAUL!

We traveled to Cable, WI where Paul's company owns a cabin they are free to use. "Cabin" does not mean what it used to, that is for sure. This lake house is located on 50+ acres on a lake that is fairly large, but it was sectioned off which means a lot of slow trolling motors and canoes-LOVED THIS! The lake house is located on a peninsula with awesome views of the lake from almost all the windows. It was a great place to make home for 2 1/2 days!

Heath and I both concluded on our drive home that this time together is the most normal we have felt in weeks/months. It was so nice to un-plug (except a few Michael Jackson videos I flipped on while feeding Rowan...love Thriller!) and just spend time doing whatever we wanted whenever. Brevin was on hyper-speed most of the weekend enjoying all our space had to offer. We spent a lot of time catching up and diving into deeper conversation with Kari and Paul (about our ear-rational judgements we have onto others). Paul cooked great meals for us and Kari was a great hostess.

Some highlights of the weekend:
  • Our amazing weather which created amazing sunsets and sunrises (only because we were up with Rowan)
  • Kari and I had a nice afternoon on the dock catching up girl style, while wildlife watching, we saw a snapper turtle RIGHT where we had been swimming the size of Brevin-WAY COOL!
  • Brevin being brave and swimming in the lake with the big guys

  • Heath and Paul in their boyhood glory jumping off the dock-specifically the synchronized cannon balls

  • Kari and I saw a black bear on the way back from getting a few groceries in town, I <3>
  • Kari had a rotating marshmallow stick that made us some yummy s'mores

  • Canoeing

  • The Brickhouse for lunch and the visitor's center and mastering the brain teasers

  • The continuous fun and laughter
We are so thankful to have had this "normal" time away with our dear friends and can't wait to keep making the memories!
