2011...

As I prepared the Christmas Card post, I went back and looked over 2010 blog posts. It was amazing to see where 2010 started and where it ended. Such a testimony to God having a plan that is entirely different than our own.

I am not sure I know what New Years means to me (other than a fun night with family and friends), but I do know that I often do enjoy the end to a year and the anticipation of a new year ahead.

Last year I chose joy as my focus. I will continue to build on joy as my focus in 2011, but add a little obedience to my focus. One of the things that 2010 brought me unexpectedly was relationships in which accountability exists. It is amazing to have people in my life that I trust that speak truth when I am entering a sin pattern and then take it to the next level and most important level through encouragement and love. It brings me to tears to think that God has met me right where I am at this year and provided these people and their wisdom.

Unfortunately these people can't be next to me every moment speaking this truth and providing me warnings at all times. I very much need to learn how to stop my own self and focus on God honoring actions and words at these times. One of the ways I plan to keep this is my focus is through doing the Living Beyond Yourself Beth Moore study with my lovely neighbor Catrina. We are only two weeks in and already this study has provided me with much to chew on in the months to come regarding obedience.

A few other things I am hopeful for in 2011 is:
-working with Heath to create a healthy balance that includes: rest, physical exercise and better eating
-a family trip to unplug and recharge
-continuing to pay down our debt and work towards our financial goals
-to laugh. a lot.
-to continue letting go of having such a planned calendar and operate in a spur of the moment way more often

How about you? I would love to hear what your focus in 2011 is and what you are hopeful to see play out? Comments make me smile as I love to see who is popping in to read...

My focus this year is to focus on God's word. Reading the bible every day which has not been something I have done in the past. I really want to study it and be able to call on it more naturally. And while doing this really paying attention to what direction God and the Spirit are taking me.

I'm going to try and rejoice in the times we _had_ with loved ones on this earth, live for when we'll be re-united, and fixate less on what _I_ have lost. Like Tina, I'm going to try and read the Bible much more often to help with living life.
