My View

My view this summer has been an up close and constant one of my boys. Let me share it with you...

Rowan
-His insane love to sit down and read every single book in the basket. At once. This is not something I expected with his on-the-go personality, but I will definitely embrace this unexpectedness. His all time favorite is a Jesus Loves Me book, he doesn't have the words perfectly formed yet, but he is close to singing it all with us.
-I predict that Rowan will be a class clown. He has taken to doing something and then laughing at himself with the fakiest (is that a word?) laugh possible. He also then looks for our reaction. He will keep this up until we laugh with him.
-Mainly because Brevin was not like this, we are surprised by Rowan's ferocious love for animals. He makes a great piggy noise. He tries to snort, but it is some sort of rasp deep from his throat.
-Whenever Rowan sees something new, big or exciting he responds with, "WHOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
-He says thank you when he hands you something.

Brevin
-It is becoming more and more apparent that this kid is taking after me. He has a plan for everything. EVERYTHING! And he wants to share it. With everybody!
-He has an insane knowledge of direction/GPS qualities. He hates the freeway. Loves the "back roads." He knows the difference of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He remembers things about locations from one, two and three years ago.
-We have had many conversations about what he wants to do when he grows up and questioning if we will always love him. Even if he is an: astronaut, goes to Africa and becomes scuba diver. We have assured him that we will love him no matter what.
-Brevin chooses to love Rowan. He doesn't love him and care for him because he has to, he goes above and beyond to think about him often. He pats Rowan's head to remind Rowan he is there. He sees Rowan on the edge of the chair and moves him in further. He teaches Rowan about everything (mainly jellyfish, squids and octopuses). This choice he makes in the most subtle ways often takes my breath away. Daily.

These boys are constantly pushing me to my limits of love and patience. They open my eyes to things I am sad to say I would just walk past. They exhaust and energize me all in the same moment. They make me want to be a better person. I am thankful for the blessing of being their mama.

I have thought the same thing as I have read your tweets and blog. It takes me off guard a little because there aren't many Rowans around here. Love it!
