Our little guy turned one today...how does that happen so quickly? Just last fall he was learning to roll over. As of today he says "HI" to the friends that walk in our house, he points to anything he wants to learn about and he loves to slow dance with me.
As I reflect on a year ago and how I had so many fears and anxieties about having another child...how they were washed away in an instant exactly 1 year ago, almost to the minute as I write this. 1 year ago, it was hard for me to imagine our family with an addition and now it is hard to remember what it was like without him here.
The love I have experienced with the boys, the paralyzing love, is something that takes my breath away. While it isn't always easy in these first months, I am so thankful to be Rowan's mommy. He brings his own dynamic to our family that reminds me so much of Heath in how he observes people. He is chill (until he can't get what he wants). No means yes. He loves to explore silently, pointing, always pointing.
Having two boys has brought so much joy to our lives, my life. I love the snuggles. The super hero underwear. The dirty ears...OH THE DIRTY EARS!
We celebrated with Rowan tonight taking him to one of our favorite family spots: Teddy Bear Park and Nelson's Ice Cream in Stillwater...Rowan uses "more" in sign language daily for his meal time, but he was very passionate about using it tonight with his first taste of ice cream. He LOVED IT!!!
Happy 1st Birthday to our Rowan man...
