The Vosberg View Lexicon

So, I have been hanging out with some new friends as of late. Friends that I made in a 44 hour round trip car ride between here and Louisiana. It is always fun to get to know new people. As we have been getting to know each other over the last month, they have brought to my attention what I am now calling The Vosberg View Lexicon. I didn't realize how much of our own language we had until I had to start explaining what words mean. Some of this COULD be a generation gap (one of these new friends could be my dad), but mostly it is just how the Vosbergs seem to roll...

Maynerd/Maynard: Heath and I rarely refer to one another by our real names while talking to each other. This interchangeable nickname started back when we were dating at the Maple Grove McDonald's. There was a sweet old man worker named Maynerd. We just started referring to each other as such from there on out. There is much debate between us over the spelling, even after 13 years.

Peeps: Many would see this word and think of those nasty marshmallow things that come out at Easter that my mom loves. Nope. Not when talking to us. This is how we refer to our friends, our posse, our loved ones. It was even pointed out that my 64 year old supervisor has picked up on our lingo as she used this in a work email for our team recently.

Barking Spiders: This is the way that our family acknowledges what others might refer to as tooting or passing gas. Whoever let's one rip has to look around innocently and say, "Phew...they really need to take care of the barking spiders around here..."

GOTTABEARHERE: This expression was stolen from a trucker at about 1:00 in the morning in Alaska. We were out looking for bears and found one at the same time the trucker did. He looked at us through his grizzly beard and said, "GOTTABEARHERE!" All one word. Priceless.

1 point/2 points: This is how we discreetly point out a mullet. A man gets 1 point and a woman gets 2 points. And just for future reference a whole family is double the points. This is a fun game to play at the Minnesota State Fair.

These are just a few. Are there any others you have noticed I have not mentioned here?
