7:00 am- Brevin had been feeling under the weather, so my work day looked a little bit different today. After a couple of productive hours of work, I joined him in our bed to snuggle and watch PBS Kids. He watched cartoons and I got two more hours of sleep. Contractions were still periodic.
10:30 am- Brevin and I spent the next hour and a half closing up shop at the office to make sure that everything was squared away for maternity leave. Contractions were still periodic.
12:00 pm- Left with Brevin and Rebecca from work to do some shopping at Ikea for the Spring Lake Park campus. After driving a little ways, the contractions started to be more regular, so I told Rebecca that we had to start timing them. They started coming every 6-10 minutes for the next hour.
1:30 pm- Started the drive home and the contractions started to be 2-3 minutes apart. This is where I went into denial. I was really hoping to go to Wendy's, but Becky convinced me to call the clinic again to get their expert opinion. They told me to go to the hospital, so I called Heath and told him to be on his way. Rebecca, Brevin, and I went home to get the final things packed in the bag and Rebecca drove me to the hospital. What a dear friend to just roll with it and deal with my slight freaking out that this was happening like NOW!
3:30 pm- Heath arrived and we got settled into room #5. Contractions started to get stronger and they checked to see how much I was dilated. I was at a 5! (Do you know how long it took to get to a 5 last time?!?!) The epidural was ordered.
4:30 pm- The epidural arrived. Epidural = Happiness (for me and Heath)
8:00 pm- Time to push. (oh yeah.)
9:00 pm- Done pushing, not enough progression, signs of stress on Rowan and also a high amount of mechonium. Crazy turn of events to decide on C-section. It was very nerve racking but we had a great surgical team. It proved to be the best decision they could have made because Rowan managed to get two knots in his umbilical cord which would not have been a good situation had we tried for a natural birth.
11:30 pm- First visitors. Grandpa Gordy and Grandma Val, Grandma Melanie, Becky and Ryan, and Tina!
12:21 am- First bath with some tears, but dad did a bang up job calming him down.
Thank you for your prayers and support throughout the last 9 months. Rowan looks forward to meeting all of his extended family and friends.

Hey, way to go! I can't wait to meet Mr. Rowan!
So glad he is here! So bummed you had to have a C/S :( but so thankful that he is healthy! I know how scary/intense it can be when there is meconium involved. So thankful you had a team of nurses and dr.who knew what was best for both of you. Can't wait to meet this little guy! Get your rest while you can. We will pray that your recovery goes smoothly and the transition goes well. Its been fun going through this together!
