So what is up with THOSE chairs??

After many questions and "observations" from family and friends, I think it is high time we address the crazy orange flower chairs you see in many of our in home pictures (Scroll to previous post to jog your memory). So here it is, the low down on these retro chairs.

So way back when we lived in our Coon Rapids apartment with Cal, we needed to furnish our living room. Heath led us on a garage sale excursion around the area. We spotted them from a far and knew they were just what we needed. We checked out the price of $20 each and unfortunately that was out of our budget. So Heath, being the expert garage sale man (thanks Val!) started to wheel and deal. Before I knew it, we were pulling up our little Geo Prizm to load up the orange chairs. We scored as Heath talked them down to 2 for $20.

We were a sight to be seen for sure! I was pulled up as far as I could go in the driver's seat with one chair behind me, one in the trunk and 2 men. We proudly drove up to Denny's for lunch, backed in the car and requested a booth so we could keep an eye on our treasures. PERFECTION!

So here we are 10 years later and they are still a staple in The Vosberg House. They spent time with us in both Duluth apartments, matched my Grandpa's retro rust orange couch that we thankfully got, we painted our house in Maplewood in a way that the chairs just continued to "work" and now our latest house, here they are. We just can't part with them! Why you ask?
  • They are on the smaller side vs huge which has always worked perfectly for our living spaces
  • I love the shape of them and would love to ultimately recover them which is double the cost of what we would pay for new chairs
  • They have always just worked enough that we haven't been able to justify spending money on new furniture in this area of the house

At this stage, it almost feels like they need to come with us wherever we go in all of their orange 70's glory! They have become such a staple for us that we are just used to them, but as I said above, there have been a lot of weird looks or questions from pictures about those interesting chairs.

I am getting so excited for your little baby to arrive. Just remember to ask for help if you need it!! I am always here if you need me to come over and hold a little baby. I can always bring my two, not little babies, over to play and keep the almost "big brother" busy.
Or, feel free to drop them off at my house too. :)
Best wishes to you!!

hi!
Just for the record. You have my blessing to keep those chairs. You are just so international and so up to date now. As we can see in the European fashion it is more and more flower prints on cloths. Away from the dark and in with colors. The Scandinavian straight lines are traded with prints and colors! So keep them and enjoy those chairs!! They are comfy as well!

good luck with the next baby!

I like the chairs, makes it look like shots from the 70's. Boy will people be confused at their weddings looking "back" at the pictures... :)
