Well, in case you didn't know, Heath and I celebrated our "10 Year Anniversary" a few weeks ago. Yes, I was a senior in high school and he was a freshman in college when we started dating. I actually don't even remember the date which Heath loves to give me grief about (Oct 20something)! :) This posting goes out to all of you, but those with children will be able to relate more and those without, well it will just give you something to look forward to ;) Or not!
So this weekend, Heath and I managed to have a sizable conversation surrounding one topic. It was 5-7 minutes strictly on how much we love our son. We said things like, "Gosh, I just love him...he is just so cute! He says the darndest things! I never want anything bad in this world to come close to him, EVER!" Again, a 5-7 minute conversation just on this. I looked at Heath in amazement and said, "Did you ever think 10 years ago that we would be playing cribbage having this very goofy conversation?" He said, "Nope, never could have imagined it." We smiled, pegged our points and kept talking about our love for Brevin.
Out of all of the things I don't think anybody can prepare a new parent for (Because there is a lot, we think we can prepare, but seriously, you just don't know until you have not slept for 7 nights in a row what that feels likes) is the love a parent feels for a child. It is heart bursting! It trumps all! It can be so overwhelming to make sure you are doing it all right!
So needless to say, Heath and I are feeling SO thankful for our little boy and all of the joy he brings to our life. We are not really sure what life was like 22 months ago because it does seem impossible to think of our life without the little B-Rev.
