This day has been in the making for about the last year or so...what is day is that??!! The release of a new U2 album of course!!!! I have found a new friend at work in the last 18 months that shares a quirky fanatic passion for this band along side of me, Matt. We talk about U2 at least once a week if not daily. The conversation surrounding March 3rd has been taking place since last fall, both giddy with an album that critics are saying is their best yet. This leaves many skeptical, BEST YET? U2 has been going 30+ years strong and usually when a band hits that kind of age, they just keep doing what worked 20 years ago or in their prime. Not U2. They are staying relevant in their last two albums and continuing to create music for the season of the life they are in. I appreciate this as a fan and an avid music listener in general.
I have had the opportunity to hear the album already and though it took me a good week to really process it, I am amazed at the depth that I continue to find. They have taken their early roots and infused it with their modern lives. I am excited for the year ahead...this week they are on Letterman EVERY night performing live, Bono will be speaking with Bill Hybels at the Willow Creek Leadership Summit again and of course I am sure we will be seeing them live somewhere!! I am looking forward to this experience. Every time I have seen them it has been a different, but surreal experience that can't be explained...
In The Vosberg house...we definitely have a few Kid-O friendly music cds, but usually the request from our 3 year old is, "Mommy can you play my favorite....Love and Peace..." This is priceless watching him drum and wail out LOVE AND PEACE!!!!!!!!! What could be better?? Now we just need to find some Bonoesque glasses:)
