Campfire Doughnuts Anybody?

Hi Friends! Well, we took off on our annual Father's Day weekend camping trip with The Carstens on Thursday night. We were detoured to a different state park due to the flooding at Forestville/Mystery Caves, we chose Sakatah State Park outside of Faribault. We had fun picking out our site as we had no reservations and exploring a new park, it really is a nice one! Some highlights of the weekend were:
  • Meeting Ron at Ron's Hardware in Waterville TRYING to rent bikes and the other interesting people we met along the way
  • Seeing Brevin and Anna just play, play, play for hours outside together
  • The new mosquito repellent that Tina had, it really did keep the bugs away
  • Playing games and reading books-ahhhh the simple things in life
  • Father's Day gifts
  • Sleeping in and lots o' naps...and waking to the Scamp lady crunching our sign trying to get into her site

This brings us to Saturday night...we had campfire doughnuts on the docket and mmm they were tasty! Unfortunately, Heath was trying to move the grease in the coffee can, it slipped, fell on the ground and splashed all over my legs. I screamed really loud, ran and pretty much panicked. The next 15 minutes was filled with Heath, Chad and Tina and then eventually the people across the street trying to figure out the best course of action. Thankfully, we got set up to drive to the hospital with great directions from our neighbors and The Carstens' GPS system. It was a long drive with detours to the hospital-I was very scared, but just kept my body moving and didn't stop praying. We arrived and within minutes I was comforted by the care I started to receive from the ER professionals in Faribault. They immediately started to ice me and give me pain meds. Once things were under control Heath went back to get all of our packed up stuff (Thanks Carstens!) and Brevin who was quite scared so we could head home once I was released. While he was gone, I talked to my mom on the phone the whole time only to repeat some of the same things the next day when she kindly told me-"Jill you already told me that last night." GO MORPHINE! :) With my legs wrapped up, one tetanus shot later and a pretty hefty bill accrued we left for home around 12:30. Sunday was a blur-trying to figure out how this was all going to work. We had a nice visit from The Carstens and Heath's family stopping by as well. Monday I went to the doctor with Tina and all is looking well, time just has to pass for the legs to heal. I had 2 huge blisters (Weepy and Fester were their names) the size of ping pong balls-they were pretty gross and weird to see growing right before my eyes. As of right now, they have both popped, but are re-growing back in some form. My left leg looks amazing as of today compared to the initial look and the right leg which is more severely burned will take more time to heal.

It is hard for me to sit still and rest, but I have been trying. Heath of course feels awful about the whole thing. Accidents happen though and I am just thankful it was me and not one of the kids. At this point, I am just most worried about what the permanent scarring will be?? Only time will tell. I am thankful that it wasn't worse and it is accidents like this that make you realize how fast *snap* things can just happen. This does not sway me from not camping again by any means, but just to be more careful in general. Thanks for those that have known from Facebook for your prayer and concern-I appreciate it!

Jill, Jill Jill-that must have been so scary! And bad for Brevin and Heath too!! And painful. You know that I know how fast things can happen. Please take care!
