This is Luisa. She was our original pick for sponsorship through World Vision at EBC. Last weekend we got our official packet in the mail with a different girl in it. We thought there had been a mix up with our sponsorship. There was not. Luisa died shortly after her 6th birthday. The reason was not given, but that did not sway the emotion we felt as we learned this news. I only wish we could have sponsored her sooner. Please pray for Luisa and the family she has left behind.
Yes, The Vosbergs have been under the weather yet again. Perspective comes in heavy doses when we get news as bad as Luisa's death. As we fight off what is the "common cold" here and can run to CVS or the Dr (and complain about a 20 dollar co-pay), we are yet again reminded of how fortunate we are to have these medical luxuries. We chose Luisa because her and Brevin shared the same birth date, but she was 5 years older. 5 years. And now she is dead. This is perspective.
But we do want to introduce you to our new sponsored child. Her name is Maria. Every time I walk past the fridge, her smile and eyes catch mine. I don't know what is, but I see so much potential in this girl. I have seen this a few times in my students and it makes me excited to be able to help her and her community through World Vision to get an education and encourage this potential that I see. She just turned 7 and we will sponsor her until she is at least 15 if not longer. Brevin waves good morning and good night to her on the fridge every day and looks at her as if he has always known her. It is so sweet! Our goal is to hopefully do some mission work in her community through EBC. If you are interested in sponsoring a child through a reputable organization like World Vision, please let me know. Also, if you go to the TFC website link on our main blog page, you will read about the family of our friends that work for World Vision and are living there right now. Jeff and Molly have a blog and it is amazing to read about their experiences living in Africa. We hope that by reading our short blog, you will take a few minutes to reflect on your perspective and what God has blessed you with that we might take for granted. It is usually the little things that get us worked up and stressed out, but when you really put it into perspective, it is not all that bad. We hope this finds you well and know that you are loved by The Vosbergs:)
